Freshly finished, and I'm going back to studying after I upload this.

This is probably one of the few times where I'll be inspired by music to draw (I find inspiration in other places XD ). Being the LJ-user-whore that I am now, about a month ago, someone on the Pokemon comm posted about downloads to some HGSS tracks. So I downloaded it, found some favourites, and fell in love with Ho-oh's battle theme.

And this is the product of listening to it at least once a weekday on the bus to campus XD

It just fit so perfectly with Laiko. She's often a tricky character to think of something like a battle theme, in my opinion, since I'm the type of person to not strictly follow music trends. She's kind of a pacifist at best and would rather do other things than fight. So she's very OOC here. ~~I need to draw her more IC *shot* |D~~

I'm pleased with the pose, but I know there are plenty of anatomical error abound like her arms, size of her head, etc.

; I'm happy with how her outer hand and that fan came out, as well as her feet. The hand closest to her face though and the fan holding it was something I gave up on though, and it's kinda obvious from that. XD;

I wanted to do a bit of a background since it since sort of a battle pose and all, so I actually used my watercolour pencils for, well, the real purpose they're made for and slapped them in the back. XD I haven't picked up a brush in a good while though, so if it looks half-assed, then that's probably why XD

Still working on her 'official' outfit though. I added a couple of details like the ribbons that probably won't stick, but I wanted something in that would show the direction of motion better than just her hair

Huh. Chii-chii, this never showed up in my inbox for some reason. o_O; It looks great though, I love the intense feel of the whole thing, and the color theme works well with throughout the whole thing. :3

Your skills at painting sunsets amaze me.

This is the kind of pure watercolour-flavoured goodness I'd love to be able to do.

And I agree with shenli, it does look very epic... it almost reminds me of Avatar (the show, not the James Cameron movie

), and I mean that in the best possible way. The way her face looks suggests a more physically and emotionally mature Laiko to me, so perhaps this is a moment near the "final battle" where she finally realises that those who truly want peace must be willing to fight for it, or something like that.

The only thing that bugs me about this pic is her right hand (the one in front of her face)... it looks a little, I dunno, small and malformed?

But mind you, hands aren't easy for anyone, and that's coming from someone who always draws characters with their fingers growing out of their wrists anyway.

I really love the overall look and feel of it, though. And once more, I love your way of drawing odangos so they actually resemble hair

I wasn't really thinking about a final battle *shrugs* I'm more indifferent on that subject and trend; I kinda couldn't care less about it when everyone on DD was doing it XD;;

I also actually shifted her head down on one side while I was inking, so it's good to know the bun still came out good ^^

I think I know why: in my experience, to make a link clickable you have to put the URL itself in quotation marks, like (a href="http://websiteurl")link name(/a) instead of just (a href=[link])link name(/a). If you already did try that and it's just dA's system being an ass... sorry for being patronising

...oh, yeah, I kind of forgot it could be fire from a battle, or even *gasp* a sunrise.

And yeah, I remember those tekteks - I agree in not thinking there will be an actual "final" battle, and if there is, a new enemy will crop up in a matter of minutes a la Sailor Moon. But you know me, I'll take any excuse to design an outfit for a character - and this picture kind of gives off the same kind of feeling as those 'teks, is all.
